Tales of the Orient : The Rising Sun is a puzzles/match 3 game produced by Green Sauce Games.

" Travel to Edo Japan period and help Satsu and Miyamoto in this epic adventure. Prove your skills in the Challenge mode with limited moves. Journey through beautiful scenery, relaxing music and the thrilling process of building an ancient Japanese village in this engaging Match 3 game. Dive into an epic story of honor and courage and help a Geisha and a Samurai save the day in Tales of the Orient: The Rising Sun! "

My work in this project was to produce artworks : backgrounds landscape ( night and day version ), startup screens and a cinematic for theintroduction ( visible on the video ) .  The game contain poetic landscapes with high colors and details, dojos  waterfalls and cherry trees.

It's the third game I do with Green Sauce Game ; after
Dreams of a Geisha and Joan of Arc . By the way , I wasn't alone on painting the graphic part : a lot of other Gfx you can see on the video ( as the village construction, icons , Fx and game GUI ) were done by other talentuous artists.  You can find their name in the credit of the game or by contacting Green Sauce Games.

( Microsoft Windows system, from XP to newer )

Great paintings! On the cinematic each image has a good read with different layers of action and detail levels. Landscapes for the game background are clean and evocative of a peaceful arena, but some of them did not work very well with the board on them cropping them in key areas making them look odd. But I guess you had no control over that. The Cherry blossoms tree background scape works great with and without game board.

@IvanYossi : Thank you, yes, you're guessing right. Also, there is a sort of tradition with Puzzle Games : the background artwork is partially hidden during the game, and finishing the board reveal the full artwork at the end of the level. That's why I tried to make interesting elements on the border of the artwork, and also on the central part. It was interesting for taking skill in composition.

Nice! The pictures give a feeling of harmony and peace.. actually something that i associate with the most asian themes, but the colors emphasize this. The third image from the top (with the japanese cherry trees) is my favorite here.
